MOBILITY 2. Aspects of Teaching English. Brighton, the UK. Laura Borràs. Day 6

Storytelling

Different ways of using storytelling in the English classroom may include:

·      Read a story, after the first reading students just have to aswer a couple of questions. After the second reading, they need to notice the collocations
·      Create a story from a diagram or a picture
·      Use Cuisenaire rods to create a situation. The beginning of the story may be created as a class group and it may be continued in smaller groups.
·      Storyboard. Divide an A4 piece of paper into 6 squares and draw something in each square. That will be the starting point to write a story.
·      Liar Liar. Create two stories, one is true and one is false. Classmates may ask questions to find out.
·      Bizarre pictures. In groups, students choose a picture from each of these categories: place, object and person
My ... (object). Use a chosen or given object to create a story
